Nashville, TN –With fall right around the corner, Fervent Records' singer-songwriter Chris August shows know signs of cooling off, fitting for an artist whose name is August. With his debut single “Starry Night” hitting No. 1 on Billboard’s Christian/AC Chart this week and the head-turning release of his debut album No Far Away, August is breaking through the Christian Music scene, proving to be one of the highest selling new artist releases this year in the genre.

To top it off, his debut album is getting rave reviews from fans and critics alike.

"His debut disc comes with all the polish and perfection of a seasoned veteran, while his songwriting evokes a meditative sophistication, especially noted on the forgiveness-laden "7x70," the contemporary blues-tipped "Battle" and the personal quest for soul-bearing authenticity "Want to Be Real."' – CCM Magazine

"Chris August cites a few of his musical influences as: ‘John Mayer, Stevie Wonder, and Bryan Adams’- I can definitely hear their influence in his voice, and musicality. However, there is something distinctive about Chris August’s voice. He is different; he is fresh." -BreatheCast

Chris August celebrated the release of his album with a hometown bash in Dallas, TX. While in town, August appeared on one of the highest rated regional morning shows, Good Day Dallas and shot the music video for his forthcoming single. Other media highlights included FOX 17’s Tennessee Mornings in Nashville and radio station visits with JOY-FM, KLTY and KLOVE.

Currently, August is playing shows all across the country in support of the new album with recent performances at Creation West and Night Of Joy. He will also be opening for Platinum-Selling Group Point Of Grace on their upcoming 2010 “Home For The Holidays” Christmas tour.

While he may be considered a "new" artist, Fervent Records' newly signed singer-songwriter, Chris August is anything but a rookie in the music industry. The self-taught pianist, guitarist, and producer previously toured as the keyboard player and opening act for pop sensation Ashlee Simpson and worked with Ryan Cabrera, Brian McKnight and Jessica Simpson before shifting his focus to his solo career. Chris, a native of Dallas, Texas, put his refined skill set to work when he co-produced his debut record with acclaimed producer Ed Cash. While he is not one to shy away from writing about his faith, Chris isn't afraid to embrace relationships and heartache in his songwriting. Chris cites influences such as Stevie Wonder, John Mayer, and Gavin DeGraw who all contributed to the polished pop/rock sound that is sure to resonate with all who listen.
